Challenging Eastern Limits
The Project
Concept
Contextually developed in the shift of political and geographic borders, the Eastern Partnership – as an extension of the European Neighbourhood Policy – established a framework for relations between the European Union and its new Eastern neighbours. The 3rd EU Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius will be a key event in the programme’s short history and has attracted much attention from scholars and policy makers in Poland and other EU member states. Recognising the temporal relevance and pertinence of this topic, the students of the Centre for European Studies (CES) and affiliated institutes at Jagiellonian University will be hosting an inaugural conference focusing on the Eastern Partnership in Kraków, to be held June 7th 2013.
The Aim
This conference ventures into the prospects of the Eastern Partnership programme and the realities both the EU member states and its Eastern partners are facing given its current framework. We will particularly focus on the Eastern partners’ individual agendas and relate them to the effectiveness of the EU’s policy in that region, also considering its potential for success. This conference will be a joint collaborative project with a panel comprised of scholars and experts who are professionally invested in the topic along with a representative student body under the honorary patronage of Prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Mach.
